We spent one weekend in August at the beach. We pitched our tent and lived under the stars for a few nights. Staying at Fort Stevens State Park we were able to ride our bikes to the Battery, along to the beach and wreck of the Peter Iredale. We drove into Astoria and spent the afternoon walking the historic town, tried to climb the Astoria Column but it was closed for repair/maintenance. We were able to visit Fort Clatsop, a winter encampment for the Lewis and Clark explorers. For the most part we had great weather but we had some constant rain through the night. We were able to stay dry and survived our outdoor experience.
